Sunday morning qualifying was dominated by Mikael Grenier and Michai Stephens. The #34 JMF Mercedes takes pole for the three-hour main race later today.
In an uneventful fifteen-minute session, Stephens paced Q1 with a time of 2.04.360. Stephens was six tenths clear of Cameron Lawrence in the Dolahite Racing Ford Mustang in second with Matias Perez Companc third in the AF Corse Ferrari. Jason Daskalos was the best of the Am drivers with a 2:05.991 leading the Pro-Am entries from Q1 in his JMF Mercedes.
Early in Q2, Mikael Grenier laid down the hammer with a 2:03.976. However, the session was interrupted with six and a half minutes to go. It was found that wildlife ran out on to the track. Concurrently, all drivers on a hot lap had to surrender their times. The session resumed with two and a half minutes for drivers to get one last hot lap in. Robby Foley with a bonzai lap turned the third fastest lap in Q2.
On the combined results, JMF scored pole by half a second over the AF Corse USA Ferrari. The Turner Motorsports BMW rounds out the top three. The good news does not stop there for JMF. The team’s #27 entry of Daskalos and Lorcan Hanafin will start on pole in the Pro-Am class. Albeit it was a close shave as the team only nabbed pole on combined time by 0.027 seconds over the GMG Racing Porsche. Finally, Am class pole was secured by the AF Corse USA team of Oswaldo Negri and Jay Schribeman.
