The VP Racing Fuels SportsCar Championship returns to action at Circuit of the Americas this weekend for Round 2 of the Airbnb Endurance Championship, with 10 P3 entries set to take on the full Grand Prix layout in a two-hour race.
The entry list for this weekend does not include any BMW M2 entries, a new class that was introduced alongside the P3 competitors for the endurance weekend. After being absent during the Sebring round, the class is once again not featured at COTA.
Following a strong weekend at Sebring last time out for Oscar Tunjo and Valentino Catalano in their No. 1 Gebhardt Motorsports Duqueine D08, the duo looks to secure another long-form victory as the series returns to COTA.
Wyatt Brichacek will also look to double up at COTA after taking home a pair of race wins back in late February at the circuit when the series supported NASCAR with the GSX class. Joining Brichacek this weekend is Lincoln Day as they pilot the No. 95 Toney Driver Development Ligier JS P325.
Joining the returning eight entries from February’s race weekend is Crown Racing. The team, which will run a Ligier JS P320, features the pairing of Brady Clapham and Chris McMurry — the father of long-time IMSA competitor Matt McMurry.
Also joining Crown Racing is Performance Tech Motorsports, past winners in multiple IMSA series including Prototype Challenge (PC) at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, with their traditional No. 38 Ligier JS P320 driven by Daniel Oliver and Martin Bruhat.
The weekend begins tomorrow with a 50-minute practice session from 4:35 p.m. to 5:25 p.m. ET. The series continues Friday with the final practice of the weekend — another 50-minute session from 10:25 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. ET — followed by 15-minute qualifying from 3:10 p.m. to 3:25 p.m. ET. Saturday’s race is scheduled to begin at 12:05 p.m. ET and will stream live on IMSA’s YouTube channel.
