Championship battles and tense fights for the lead defined Rounds 14 and 15 of the 2026 TDK Tokyo E-Prix. Dan Ticktum claimed a dramatic last-lap victory in Saturday’s race for Kiro Race Co., while Nyck de Vries held off Nick Cassidy and Jake Dennis following a late red-flag restart to secure the win for Mahindra Racing in Sunday’s event.
Round 14 (Race 1)
Jake Dennis led the field to the green flag for Andretti Formula E and controlled the early stages of the race. The opening laps remained relatively clean until Lap 19, when former Porsche teammates Pascal Wehrlein and António Félix da Costa collided, bringing an early end to Wehrlein’s race.
Following the Pit Boost stops, the battle for victory came down to Dennis and Kiro Race Co.’s Dan Ticktum. Dennis reclaimed the lead on Lap 29, while Ticktum suggested over team radio that Dennis should refrain from aggressively defending the position. However, entering the final corners on the last lap, Ticktum made a decisive move to snatch the lead and claim his second career Formula E victory and first of the season.
Dennis settled for second after losing the lead in the closing moments, while Nick Cassidy charged into contention late to finish third for Citroën Racing. The podium came during an emotional week for the team following the sudden passing of team principal Cyril Blais.

Round 15 (Race 2)
The final race of the weekend brought vastly different conditions, as a damp track greeted polesitter Edoardo Mortara and the rest of the field for Round 15.
Mortara held the lead through the opening laps until Jaguar TCS Racing’s António Félix da Costa took over the top spot on Lap 4. DS Penske’s Taylor Barnard then moved into the lead approaching the midway point of the race, though the young Briton encountered heavy traffic exiting the pit lane following the Pit Boost cycle.
Barnard remained out front until Lap 25, when defending series champion Oliver Rowland took control for Nissan in the manufacturer’s home race. Attack Mode ultimately set the stage for the closing laps, as Nyck de Vries used the additional power to overtake Rowland for the lead on Lap 28.
The battle at the front also allowed Jake Dennis and Nick Cassidy to close the gap before a multi-car pileup on Lap 32 brought out the red flag. The incident ended the races of Envision Racing’s Joel Eriksson, Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans, Kiro Race Co.’s Josep María Martí, and polesitter Edoardo Mortara.
The red flag reset the field for a one-lap sprint to the finish, with de Vries forced to defend from Cassidy and Dennis on the rolling restart. The Mahindra driver held firm to score his second victory of the season.
Final Notes
Leaving the penultimate weekend of the 2025/26 Formula E season in Tokyo, Jake Dennis (146 points) leads the Drivers’ Championship by just two points over Mitch Evans (144). Pascal Wehrlein (141) sits third, just five points behind Dennis, while Oliver Rowland (132) trails by 14 points, setting up a four-way championship battle heading into the season finale in London.
Remarkably, three of the four title contenders are the series’ last three Drivers’ Champions—Dennis (Season 9), Wehrlein (Season 10), and Rowland (Season 11). Meanwhile, all four contenders represent different manufacturers and teams: Andretti Formula E, Jaguar TCS Racing, TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, and Nissan Formula E Team.
In the Teams’ Championship, Jaguar TCS Racing (257 points) leads TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team (243 points) entering London. Meanwhile, Porsche secured the Manufacturers’ Championship in Tokyo following another strong weekend, clinching the title with one race weekend remaining.
Season 12 concludes in three weeks when Formula E heads to the streets of London for the season-ending doubleheader, Rounds 16 and 17, on Aug. 15-16.
