The 26-year-old from London, Dan Ticktum, secured his first career Formula E victory—both for himself and for Kiro Race Co.—as he silenced critics with a breakthrough performance in Jakarta.
Season 9 champion Jake Dennis led the field to green after earning a convincing pole position during the duels. He maintained control for much of the race until Lap 23, when Nyck de Vries overtook him for the lead in a move that caused substantial damage to Dennis’s front wing.
The incident brought out the safety car and kicked off a string of full-course yellows. De Vries received a 10-second penalty for the contact with Dennis.
These stoppages, combined with the penalty to De Vries, allowed Ticktum to take the lead in the final laps and capture the win.
Ticktum, who earned both his first podium and first win this season, has shown impressive pace with Kiro Race Co., a team running an older Porsche powertrain. Given his performance and personality, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Brit signed to a major Formula E program next season.
Beyond the race winner, Edoardo Mortara finished second after battling Ticktum in the closing laps, while Nico Müller rounded out the podium for the Andretti Formula E team.
Notably, championship leader Oliver Rowland endured another off-weekend, finishing 10th and missing the podium for a third straight race. Despite the recent dip in form, his 71-point lead keeps him in strong contention to clinch the season title at Berlin in July.
