Ford Racing has taken the wraps off its new LMDh prototype, with the car hitting the track Monday at Circuit Paul Ricard in France as testing begins for its upcoming FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar program.
Images and videos surfaced Monday showing the new Ford machine, which is set to make its racing debut during the 2027 WEC season. The car features a blue-and-white testing livery, with Ford Racing branding displayed throughout the design. Ford previously confirmed that its European testing program would begin in August, focusing on performance, reliability, hybrid-system integration and aerodynamic validation.

Among the car’s most eye-catching features is its curved rear-end design, along with several styling cues that appear to draw inspiration from Ford’s racing heritage.
Matt Campbell was behind the wheel during Monday’s running. Campbell was announced earlier this year as one of Ford’s six factory Hypercar drivers. He was joined by fellow teammates Mike Rockenfeller and Tom Blomqvist for the initial shakedown, while former Formula 1 driver Logan Sargeant also joined Campbell for the car’s first testing laps at Paul Ricard.
According to Ford Racing, the Hypercar began testing on Aug. 5 with several days of shakedown running, which proceeded smoothly as the team worked through a comprehensive program to activate and verify each control system. Ford Racing said all systems are now fully functional ahead of the first full track tests scheduled for this week and next.
The car is also expected to see track time in the United States, with a test at Sebring International Raceway reportedly slated to commence later this year.
