Wright Motorsports will get an added factory boost for next month’s Indianapolis 8 Hours. The team announced Monday that Kevin Estre and Laurin Heinrich are joining the team for the season finale for both GT World Challenge America and the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC).
Heinrich will join the No. 31 entry with Dave Musial Jr. and Ryan Yardley. The duo arguably gave Wright the highlight of their season with an overall win at Circuit of the Americas in May. Estre will join Terese Lahlouh and Thomas Merrill in the sister No. 242 entry.
Heinrich is no stranger to the Indianapolis 8 Hour. The young Porsche factory driver was a class winner in the 2024 race. Estre, contrarily, will be making his debut in the race. Indy will be a return to Wright for Estre, his first race for the team since the 2023 Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Back to Heinrich, this gives the German the unique opportunity to go back-to-back in IGTC competition. He is fresh off overall victory in the Suzuka 1000km this past weekend.
Furthermore, Wright Motorsports has every incentive to push for big guns for Indy. The No. 31 entry is tied for the Pro-Am championship lead with two races remaining in the season.
