Cadillac is just one of many teams to take on an EVO change this offseason in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship paddock.

However, Cadillac’s adjustment is most notable, shifting the rear wing lower to where it previously was and according to some of the drivers, updates to the car have provided quite a boost especially in traffic.

“We really tried to focus on the traffic side of things,” #31 Whelen driver Earl Bamber said. “We did a lot of work with Cadillac and I think we’ve managed to succeed there. The feel of the car is a lot better in traffic. Overall performance it’s not really that adjusted. That was the main focus was the traffic stuff.

“I think the series is so refined and the cars are so strong these days that finding ultimate pace is obviously really important,” #10 WTR driver Ricky Taylor stated. “But the races are one head-to-head, battling with other cars, so finding performance in traffic was really important for the team and for Cadillac. That’s something that they’ve been working on really hard.”

“I think it’s definitely taken a step forward,” #31 Whelen driver Frederik Vesti said. “I’m quite impressed by Cadillac Racing on how much they’ve improved since last year, not only on the car but also as a team, and how the engineers are working. I think we’re making progress all the time and when you both make progress on the car and with the team around, I think we are making steps forward and I think obviously Daytona was strong. We just missed out. We had quite a hectic race back and forth, but I’m expecting a strong season and I’m looking forward to challenging for wins.”

To start the season, Cadillac has flexed its muscles in traffic, securing a 2nd place finish at Daytona to open the season in January. The brand will look to have its fleet of three cars continuing to challenge for wins once again this weekend in the 12 Hours of Sebring.
