A brand‑new support series will make its first public appearance during the FIA World Endurance Championship round at Imola, as the Legends of Le Mans launches its inaugural season. The series, officially joining the FIA WEC support bill from 2026 onward, brings back some of the most iconic machinery from endurance racing’s recent past. And crucially, without modern noise restrictions.
Fans at Imola, Spa and Bahrain will be treated to the full sound and spectacle of LMP1, LMP2 and GTE cars from the 2006–2020 era, restored to their original performance and character. The series will also feature at Le Mans Classic from 2–5 July 2026, adding another layer of nostalgia to the historic event.
LMP1, LMP2 and GTE: Eligibility and Philosophy
The Legends of Le Mans grid is built around authenticity.
- LMP1 entries are restricted to non‑hybrid cars homologated between 2006 and 2012.
- LMP2 machinery must come from the 2006–2015 period.
- GTE cars are eligible from 2011–2020.
Every car must also have a proven competition history in one of endurance racing’s major championships: the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours of Daytona, FIA WEC, ELMS, IMSA or the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.
The result is a curated grid of genuine race‑winning and historically significant chassis. Not replicas, not show cars, but the real thing.
