The Legends of Le Mans championship returned to action on 8–9 May 2026 as part of the FIA WEC weekend at Spa‑Francorchamps. After making its debut in April at Imola, the field of modern‑classic Le Mans machinery travelled to Belgium for a weekend that presented a completely different challenge. Spa’s fast, flowing nature stood in sharp contrast to the tight and technical layout of Imola, demanding a new approach from both drivers and teams.

There were several changes to the entry list compared to the opening round. The fan‑favourite Lola‑Aston Martin DBR1‑2 did not make the trip to Spa, and one of the Peugeot 908s was also absent. Two notable additions filled the gap: the Gibson 015S of David Cheng and the Oak‑Pescarolo 01 of Eric de Doncker.

Race 1: victory for Kriton Lendoudis

Race 1 saw Kriton Lendoudis in the Peugeot 908 and Michel Frey in the Lola B07/18 share the front row. The pair engaged in a fierce early battle, but once Lendoudis managed to break free, the Greek driver controlled the race and secured victory with a margin of 22 seconds over Frey. The final podium spot once again went to François Perrodo in the Porsche RS Spyder, repeating his result from Imola. His route to the podium was far from straightforward: disqualified from qualifying, he was forced to start from the very back. Perrodo later noted that Spa’s high‑speed character does not play to the strengths of the Porsche, which excels on shorter, more technical circuits thanks to its high downforce. In LMP2, Andy Cummings finished second in the ex‑KCMG Morgan‑Nissan, with Evgeny Kireev taking third in the ex‑G‑Drive Oreca 05. In GTE, Franz Wunderlich claimed victory in the Aston Martin Vantage AMR ahead of professor Wolfgang Henseler’s Lotus Evora.

Race 2: 1-2 for Peugeot in LMP1

The second race began with a Peugeot lockout on the front row. Lendoudis started from pole once again, joined this time by Shaun Lynn, who had been unable to take part in Race 1 due to clutch issues. The finishing order at the front mirrored the grid, with Lendoudis taking his second win of the weekend and Lynn following him home. Perrodo completed another consistent performance with a third‑place finish overall. In LMP2, Alexandre Leroy guided the IDEC Sport Ligier JS P2 to second place, while Kireev secured another third position in the Oreca 05. In GTE, Wunderlich again prevailed over Henseler.

The Legends of Le Mans season continues in July during Le Mans Classic, where the field will once more take to one of motorsport’s most iconic stages.
