The British GT Championship held its annual May test day ahead of round two at Oulton Park yesterday, with GT REPORT on site at the Cheshire circuit.
Mixed conditions during the morning session kept teams busy adapting throughout, with the top five cars separated by less than a second. Marcus Clutton set the pace for Orange Racing by JMH in the #67 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo.
Morgan Tillbrook and Ben Barnicoat were second quickest in the #77 McLaren for Optimum Motorsport, although Tillbrook suffered a late spin at Lodge Corner, narrowly avoiding both the tyre barriers and oncoming traffic.
Barwell Motorsport’s Rob Collard and Hugo Cook finished third in the #63 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, ahead of new 2 Seas Motorsport pairing Ben Green and Aaron Walker in the #18 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo. Jarrod Waberski and Alex Martin completed the top five in Barwell Motorsport’s #78 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2.
The afternoon session unfolded in similar fashion, although conditions remained almost entirely dry throughout. Walker and Green went fastest for 2 Seas Motorsport with a 1:32.259 in the #18 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
Marcus Clutton and Simon Orange secured second for Orange Racing by JMH in the #67 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, with Orange completing the majority of the afternoon running.
Collard and Cook once again ended the session third quickest for Barwell Motorsport in the #63 Lamborghini, improving on their morning benchmark by two tenths of a second. Paddock Motorsport’s Martin Plowman finished fourth in the #9 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, while Waberski and Martin rounded out the top five once again in the #78 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2.
