Throughout the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring weekend, Moritz Kranz will share behind-the-scenes updates from inside the #904 Mühlner Motorsport powered by H&R Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.
In his first debrief of the week, Kranz explains why he returns to the Porsche Cup car for this year’s Nürburgring 24 Hours despite racing a BMW M4 GT3 in NLS, while also looking ahead to a weather-affected opening day of practice.
For this year’s Nürburgring 24 Hours, I’ll be back in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car again, just like in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
The reason we’re doing the 24 Hours in the Cup car rather than the BMW M4 GT3 we race in NLS was actually decided quite a long time ago. Over the winter, the plan was already clear that the BMW programme would focus on NLS only, and that if we entered the Nürburgring 24 Hours, it would be with the Porsche Cup car. So that decision has been in place for a while now.
Of course, it’s a different challenge compared to the BMW, but the Cup car is something I know well around the Nordschleife and I’m looking forward to getting the weekend started again.
For tomorrow, especially with the weather forecast looking uncertain, the main goal is simply to get some laps in, build confidence and make sure the car is running without any issues. At this stage of the weekend, that’s the most important thing.
