Theo Oeverhaus has won the first race of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season of 2026. The German driver dominated on Sunday in Monte Carlo after grabbing an impressive pole position on Friday. Rookie Andrea Bristot leaves his mark on the Porsche one-make series, while GP Elite celebrates 35th Supercup podium scored by Gus Burton.

The weekend of the Porsche Supercup already started on Thursday with a free practice session, after which the drivers qualified on Friday for their race on Sunday. Starting the season on the tight streets of Monaco delivers an extra challenge: a part of the race is about survival, but with only eight races in one season – winning is an obvious goal.

Usually the results of the qualifying session are important for the outcome of the race, as it’s difficult to overtake on the Monegasque asphalt. Nevertheless, an accident is never far away, looking back at the carnage at the start of the Supercup race in 2025, which ended the race for nearly half the field.

Oeverhaus managed to grab the pole position on behalf of Martinet by Almeras, with Supercup rookie Bristot on his heels in P2. The gap was only a tenth – close margins as we’re used to in the Porsche one-make series. Burton put in a great lap for GP Elite during his Supercup debut with the Dutch team, completing the top three. 2025 vice champion Robert de Haan missed out on a top three start by just 1.5 tenths.

Bristot fights back to keep P2

When the lights went out for the race on Sunday, Oeverhaus immediately managed to cover his line into Saint Devote while having Bristot under his rear wing. The young Italian driver wanted to defend his position as he saw Burton alongside him right away. The two went up the hill with a fight, with both of them pushing and pulling for P2.

Bristot fought back with determination and kept Burton behind him. The fight saw Flynt Schuring, rookie champion of 2025, looking for opportunities for a gap, while he had De Haan all over the back of his #12 CLRT Porsche. The field started to spread out a little more going into lap 2, which provided Oeverhaus the space to start building up the gap.

Towards the end of the second lap, the live timing suddenly saw Wouter Boerekamps dropping from P11 to P15. A shame for the Dutchman, who was aiming for a good result after he definitely showed the pace and experience.

Porsche train into Fairmont Hairpin

Meanwhile Oeverhaus seemed to have made a mistake under braking for the Hairpin, resulting in him almost being pushed down to the tunnel section by Bristot, who immediately responded sharp and smart. Oeverhaus and Burton touched and the field was suddenly glued together again going into the first half of the race.

The only one in the top five who managed to get in an overtaking move was De Haan in the #1 Lechner Porsche, taking P4 from Schuring right before the Hairpin. In the next laps the young Dutchman kept the pressure on the pink Porsche in front of him, but didn’t manage to find a gap to put his car next to De Haan’s again.

The field stabilized in some sort of way, while the margins remained small and the gaps were at times non-existent. Bristot kept putting Oeverhaus under pressure, but the German didn’t crack and kept pushing out laps that would get him closer and closer to that first Monaco Supercup win.

GP Elite celebrates 35th Supercup podium

Towards the end of the race Oeverhaus was cruising to the victory, but Bristot kept him on his toes by amping up the pressure again. The gap between the two was one second at a point, but the Italian rookie found more pace to push more for the final sprint to the flag. Burton and De Haan remained close to him meanwhile.

With two laps to go a short yellow flag interrupted the race slightly, but nothing could stop Oeverhaus from winning the race in Monaco. For Bristot and Burton the race was a couple laps too short to try and overtake for the win. It marks an outstanding Supercup debut for Bristot, who already left his mark on the Porsche one-make series in Porsche Carrera Cup Italia. The rookie win is also his.

Burton delivers GP Elite a special milestone by finishing in P3. The Dutch Porsche team celebrates their 35th Supercup podium, while the Brit celebrates his first Supercup podium with his new team. Teammate Matheus Ferreira grabs his first Supercup rookie pole by finishing P2 in the rookie results. Chester Kiefer of CLRT completes the rookie podium.
