DTM Lausitzring Qualifying 1 delivered an incredibly close battle, with just 0.160 seconds covering the top three as the fight for pole position went down to the final laps.
Nicki Thiim secured pole position for Comtoyou Racing in the #7 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 with a stunning lap of 1:19.463, earning three championship points. Arjun Maini put the #36 HRT Ford Racing Ford Mustang GT3 on the front row, only 0.062 seconds behind the pole sitter to claim two points, while Lucas Auer qualified third in the #22 Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf Mercedes-AMG GT3, 0.160 seconds adrift and collected one point.
Jules Gounon took fourth in the #48 Mercedes-AMG Team Mann-Filter Mercedes-AMG GT3, ahead of Maro Engel in fifth for Mercedes-AMG Team Ravenol with the #80 Mercedes-AMG GT3. Finn Wiebelhaus placed the #64 HRT Ford Racing Ford Mustang GT3 in sixth, followed closely by Matteo Cairoli in seventh for Emil Frey Racing aboard the #14 Ferrari 296 GT3.
Tom Kalender secured eighth in the #84 Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf Mercedes-AMG GT3, with Nicolas Baert taking ninth for Comtoyou Racing in the #8 Aston Martin Vantage GT3. Ben Dörr completed the top ten for Dörr Motorsport in the #25 McLaren 720S GT3, setting up an exciting opening race at Lausitzring.
Race 1 is scheduled to begin at 13:30 CEST.
