Full-time Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) GTP driver Ricky Taylor is set to drive the No. 12 Cadillac V-Series.R for Hertz Team JOTA at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in this year’s World Endurance Championship (WEC) six-hour Lone Star Le Mans.
A two-time Rolex 24 at Daytona winner, Taylor has competed sporadically in WEC over the past several seasons, primarily in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. His most recent WEC start came earlier this year in the twice-around-the-clock French endurance classic, where he drove the No. 101 WTR Cadillac V-Series.R in the Hypercar class for a second consecutive year alongside his brother, Jordan Taylor, and full-season IMSA co-driver Filipe Albuquerque.
In his IMSA career, Taylor has claimed two full-season championships, winning the Prototype title in 2017 and the DPi championship in 2020. This season, Taylor and Albuquerque ended a two-year drought for WTR in IMSA’s GTP class, claiming victory in the most recent race at Road America aboard the No. 10 Cadillac.
Taylor and WTR have two GTP races remaining on the IMSA calendar, with visits to Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the season finale at Road Atlanta.
Taylor previously tested for Hertz Team JOTA last November during the FIA Rookie Test in Bahrain due to licensing issues involving NASCAR star Connor Zilisch, which prevented the young driver from participating in the test.
Taylor will replace full-season driver Alex Lynn in the No. 12 Cadillac at COTA. Lynn is set to return for the final two WEC rounds of the season at Barcelona and Monza.
“I’m really excited to join Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA for COTA,” said Taylor, who finished ninth at Le Mans alongside Jordan Taylor and Albuquerque in the No. 101 WTR Cadillac. “I’ve always been a big fan of the team, and it was great working with them this year at Le Mans as a teammate to the car.
“I know Will and Norman well from their time with WTR. COTA is an amazing track, and it will be great to go back to Austin. Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA has been so strong all year — we’ve all been watching and cheering them on — and I’ll be doing my best to help contribute to another good result.”
