Danny Formal led the way among the 23-car GT field aboard the Wayne Taylor Racing No. 45 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship final practice this weekend at Virginia International Raceway (VIR).

Formal topped the overall GT field, setting a 1:45.591 around the 3.27-mile circuit. Leading the GTD Pro class was Nicky Catsburg in the No. 4 Pratt Miller Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, with a 1:45.653.

Behind Catsburg in GTD Pro, Max Esterson placed second in the No. 59 Team RLL McLaren 720S GT3 EVO, while Andrea Caldarelli was third in the No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports Lamborghini Temerario GT3.

In GTD, Casper Stevenson set the second-best time in class aboard the No. 81 DragonSpeed Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, while Robby Foley claimed third in the No. 96 Turner Motorsports BMW M4 GT3 EVO.

The only red flag of the session came when the No. 16 Riley Ford Mustang GT3 went off at Turn 5. As a result, the team will lose its fastest lap time later this afternoon in qualifying.

Qualifying for tomorrow’s Michelin GT Challenge at VIR kicks off at 4:50 p.m. ET, with GTD beginning the session before concluding with GTD Pro. Tomorrow’s 160-minute race is scheduled to begin at 12:10 p.m. ET.

Both WeatherTech SportsCar Championship events will be broadcast live on Peacock, while today’s qualifying session is available globally on IMSA.tv and IMSA’s official YouTube channel. Tomorrow’s race will also air on NBC and be available outside the United States on IMSA.tv and IMSA’s official YouTube channel.
