Ford Racing has unveiled the 2027 Mustang Challenge North America schedule, featuring an additional stop in the Sunshine State and the series’ debut in the Peach State as part of a 12-round, six-race-weekend slate.
The 2027 Mustang Challenge season kicks off at the “World Center of Racing,” Daytona International Speedway, with Rounds 1 and 2 during the Roar Before The 24 weekend, January 22-24. Mustang Challenge will join Porsche Carrera Cup for IMSA’s two-weekend stay at Daytona, with both series making their track debuts.
From there, the season continues in Florida at Sebring International Raceway in support of the 75th Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring, with Rounds 3 and 4 taking place March 17-19. The series then heads to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for its only West Coast stop, April 30-May 2, for Rounds 5 and 6.
Mustang Challenge will then take a summer break in the United States before traveling to Spa for the second annual Mustang Challenge Invitational, a non-points event held during the 24 Hours of Spa weekend, June 24-27. The overseas trip replaces rounds at Mid-Ohio and Watkins Glen, both of which have appeared on the schedule in two of the past three seasons.
The series then returns for the final six races of the season, beginning with Rounds 7 and 8 at Virginia International Raceway, August 20-22. From there, Mustang Challenge heads to Circuit of The Americas (COTA) for Rounds 9 and 10, September 10-12, before closing the season at Road Atlanta, a new addition to the schedule, with Rounds 11 and 12, October 6-8.
“Three years ago, Ford Racing announced a brand-new single make series,” Chris Ward, Global Customer Racing Manager for Ford Racing, said. “When Mustang Challenge debuted, it was an opportunity for Mustang enthusiasts to get behind the wheel of a track-ready Dark Horse R, a car that bridges the gap between a production Dark Horse and a Mustang GT4 race car.
“Three years later, Ford Racing’s one-make program has grown into something bigger than we ever could have imagined. With three series across two continents, Mustang one-make racing has become an integral part of our sports car racing efforts. And, as a result of its role, where we race is incredibly important. In 2027, each of our three Mustang one-make series will visit some of the world’s most iconic tracks.
“For Mustang Challenge North America’s fourth season, we have what we believe to be our best schedule yet, with the series visiting six of North America’s premier tracks.
“A season full of premier venues and headline events is part of the promise of Mustang one-make racing, and I believe we are delivering on that promise with our 2027 Mustang Challenge North America calendar. We are looking forward to offering our competitors, partners and fans another remarkable season of global Mustang competition.”
This weekend, Mustang Challenge continues its 2026 campaign with a pair of rounds at VIR. Race No. 1 is scheduled for Saturday, August 22, at 9:25 a.m. ET, followed by the weekend finale, Race No. 2, on Sunday, August 23, at 9:45 a.m. ET. Both races will be broadcast live on Peacock, IMSA.tv and IMSA’s official YouTube channel.
