Round 3 Racing continued its weekend dominance at Watkins Glen International in Mustang Challenge North America competition, with Cole Loftsgard claiming both the overall and Dark Horse (DH) class victory in the No. 42 Ford Mustang Dark Horse R. Meanwhile, Oleg Gorshkov completed a perfect debut weekend in the series by going 2-for-2 in the Dark Horse Legends (DHL) class aboard the No. 70 Ford Mustang Dark Horse R, securing a clean weekend sweep for the team.

It was a relatively straightforward race for both Loftsgard and Gorshkov, as each led every lap to secure their second victory of the weekend. Loftsgard faced early pressure from TechSport Racing’s Devin Anderson, much like he did in Saturday’s race. However, Loftsgard steadily pulled away, building a comfortable advantage to claim the overall and Dark Horse (DH) class victory, while Anderson finished second in class.

Third in DH changed early in the race. Sandy Satullo, driving the Wheelhouse Motorsports-prepared No. 7 Ford Mustang Dark Horse R, was forced to pit after suffering a punctured tire. The unscheduled stop dropped Satullo out of podium contention, allowing Ethan Low to inherit the final DH podium position in the No. 25 Flying Lizard Motorsports entry.

In the DHL class, Gorshkov’s race was relatively straightforward, but the battle for second provided plenty of excitement. Championship contenders Tom Tait and Chris Clarke engaged in a hard-fought duel that showcased the intensity of the title fight. Ultimately, Tait, driving the No. 8 Ford Mustang Dark Horse R for Wheelhouse Motorsports, made the decisive pass on Clarke’s No. 9 entry for Paley Motorsports with AAG Racing and held him off over the closing laps to secure second place. Clarke completed the podium in third.

““It’s been an amazing weekend for Round 3 Racing, and they really deserve this,” Loftsgard said following his Race 2 win in DH. “They work so hard. I wasn’t expecting an opportunity to overtake Devin [Anderson] on the first lap, but I saw the opportunity and I took it. From there I tried to stick to my game plan, take care of our Dark Horse R and not overdrive it.”

“Round 3 Racing is an amazing team, and it was great to sweep the weekend,” Garshkov said after the DHL win. “Today was about managing the tires, and I was able to do that and have a great race. I had a blast this weekend in my first Mustang Challenge experience with the Dark Horse R.”

Coming out of Watkins Glen, Loftsgard continues to lead the DH championship standings over Anderson, while Tait remains in the lead of the DHL category.

Mustang Challenge North America now hits the homestretch of the 2026 season, returning to action for their second-to-last event in August, when they head to Virgina International Raceway (VIR) for another two rounds of the season.
