The prototype field is set for Sunday’s six-hour Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America, as Nick Yelloly secured the overall and GTP pole for Meyer Shank Racing’s No. 93 Acura ARX-06 with a lap of 1:49.233. In LMP2, Daniel Goldburg will lead the class to the green flag aboard the No. 22 United Autosports Oreca 07 after posting a 1:54.212.
Misha Goikhberg briefly claimed the top spot in LMP2 on the fourth lap of the session aboard the No. 52 Bryan Herta Autosport with PR1 Mathiasen Oreca 07. Goldburg responded one lap later, reclaiming the top position with what proved to be the fastest lap of the session to earn the class pole.
Goikhberg ultimately qualified second with a lap of 1:54.474, putting the Bryan Herta Autosport effort alongside Goldburg on the front row. Jeremy Clarke will start third in class aboard the No. 43 Inter Europol Competition Oreca 07 after leading the session for a portion of qualifying.
In GTP, only two drivers held the provisional pole throughout the session. Louis Deletraz initially set the benchmark aboard the No. 40 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac V-Series.R before Yelloly moved to the top on his fourth flying lap. Yelloly improved again on his fifth lap, cementing pole position, while Deletraz ultimately dropped to fourth.
Joining Yelloly on the front row will be Meyer Shank Racing teammate Tom Blomqvist in the No. 60 Acura ARX-06 after turning a 1:49.390. Sheldon van der Linde qualified third in the No. 24 “Spider-Man”-themed BMW M Hybrid V8 with a lap of 1:49.597.
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s first-ever six-hour race at Road America is scheduled to take the green flag Sunday at 11:30 a.m. ET. Fans in the United States can watch live on Peacock, while international viewers can stream the race on IMSA.tv and IMSA’s YouTube channel.
