McCumbee McAleer Racing announced that Nate Cicero has parted ways with the program, following Cicero’s announcement last week that he would be stepping away from racing and an official team statement released this afternoon.
Cicero posted on his social media platform last week: “I will be taking a leave from racing to focus on personal matters and would appreciate privacy at this time. I want to thank everyone who supported me over the years.”
Throughout Cicero’s career, the driver competed across various series within the IMSA ladder system, including stints in Mazda MX-5 Cup, Mustang Challenge and, most recently, Michelin Pilot Challenge. Cicero also competed in SRO America, most notably in GT4 America.
Cicero’s reasoning behind his sudden departure remains unknown.
Cicero currently leads the Grand Sport (GS) class in Michelin Pilot Challenge alongside teammate Robert Noaker in the No. 13 McCumbee McAleer Racing Ford Mustang GT4. While the duo have yet to secure a win this season, Cicero and Noaker have collected three podium finishes, including a season-best second-place finish at Watkins Glen in June.
McCumbee McAleer Racing commented on its team social media platforms regarding Cicero’s departure, stating:
“We are disappointed to announce that our relationship with Nate Cicero has come to an end. Effective immediately, Nate is no longer associated with MMR in any capacity. We will have no further comment on the topic.
“We remain focused on moving forward and continuing to build on MMR’s goals and success. As we look to our future, we will be making a driver announcement in the coming days.”
Although Cicero is no longer with the program, Noaker and the team remain in contention for the Michelin Pilot Challenge season championship. The 2026 campaign continues when the series heads to Virginia International Raceway in two weeks for an IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GT-only weekend.
