Bryan Herta Autosport LMP2 Test & Development driver, Jonathan Woolridge, will make his NASCAR Canada Series debut this weekend on the streets of Markham driving the No. 8 for Ed Hakonson Racing (EHR).
Woolridge, 2022 Emzone Radical Cup Canada champion, has made starts in IMSA’s VP Racing Sportscar Challenge, featuring two races wins at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) in 2023 & Circuit of the Americas (COTA) last year.
The Canadian driver spent the early portion of last season in the VP Racing Sportscar Challenge with MLT Motorsports, driving their No. 54 Ligier JS P320 to the race win at COTA in Race 1. This season, Woolridge, took on a role with Bryan Herta Autosport’s brand-new LMP2 effort, which is partnered with long-time IMSA program, PR1 Mathiasen, as the team’s Test & Development driver. Woolridge has yet to compete in an IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race this season with the program.
While Woolridge makes his NASCAR Canada Series debut, the rest of the series will also be first-timers with this weekend’s race marking the first on the streets of Markham. In support of the IndyCar headlining weekend, the NASCAR series “North of The Border” will contest its 75-laps race this Saturday, August 15, at 4:45 p.m. ET, live on REV TV, TVA Sports 2, and the NASCAR Canada Series YouTube channel.
Joining Woolridge on the list of entrants for this weekend with sportscar backgrounds include Michelin Pilot Challenge and Mazda MX-5 Cup driver Tyler Gonzalez, TWOth Autosport owner, Trevor Hill, former Grand-Am drivers, Alex Tagliani and L.P. Dumoulin, 2008 Rolex 24 driver for Spirit of Daytona Racing, Marc-Antoine Camirand, and the son of legendary sportscar driver, Ron Fellows, Sam Fellows.
