Formula E, along with numerous industry leaders, has confirmed that Cyril Blais, Team Principal of Citroën Racing, has tragically passed away.
Blais began his motorsports career in Formula 3 as a Race Engineer with Manor Motorsport, steadily rising through the ranks to the highest levels of open-wheel racing. He made his Formula E debut with Mahindra Racing in 2019 before joining Maserati MSG Racing, where he progressed through the organization and ultimately became Team Principal.
The French team leader remained in the role during the offseason transition from Maserati MSG Racing to Citroën Racing for the 2025–26 Formula E season. Under Blais’ leadership this year, Citroën Racing earned one victory with Nick Cassidy while also recording four podium finishes.
“We are all so saddened to lose Cyril,” Beth Paretta, Managing Director of Citroen Racing, said. “Many of the team have known and worked with him for several years. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues throughout the paddock. Cyril believed so much in this team and we will respect his family’s wishes to honour him in the best way we can, by continuing to race in his memory with the exact dedication and passion he instilled in all of us.”

We have lost an extraordinary colleague, and someone many of us were proud to call a friend. The entire Formula E paddock is supporting one another through this incredibly difficult period. To honour his immense contribution to the sport, the Citroën Racing Formula E Team and the wider Formula E community will pay tribute to Cyril’s memory and incredible legacy during this weekend’s Tokyo E-Prix.”
Blais’ cause of death has not yet been confirmed, and no further details will be released out of respect for his family’s privacy and wishes.
