Formula E program Envision Racing has announced significant changes to its 2026-27 driver lineup, with Joel Eriksson and Sébastien Buemi set to depart their race seats following this weekend’s London E-Prix season finale.
Buemi, the Season 2 Formula E world champion, has been with the Jaguar-backed program for the past four seasons, earning a race victory with the team in Round 7 at Monaco last year.
A Toyota Hypercar driver in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), Buemi has become a staple of the Formula E paddock, competing in every season since the championship’s inception. Although he will not hold a race seat next season, Envision will retain the Swiss driver in an advisory and development role.
Eriksson completed his first full Formula E season with Envision Racing after making select starts with Dragon/Penske Autosport during the 2020-21 season and Envision during the 2023-24 campaign. The Swedish driver also spent time as a reserve driver in the series, most notably with Jaguar TCS Racing.
This season, Eriksson scored his only Formula E podium to date in Round 13 at Shanghai. He will look to add to his Formula E résumé before departing the team following this weekend’s pair of races in London.
“This has been a difficult decision, particularly given the contribution both Seb and Joel have made to our team,” Sylvain Filippi, Managing Director and CTO of Envision Racing, said.
“As we look ahead to GEN4 and an increasingly demanding Formula E calendar, we are entering an important period of development for the team. Seb’s experience will remain valuable to us, and we are pleased that he will continue to support Envision Racing in an advisory and development capacity.
“We are grateful to both drivers for everything they have given to Envision Racing and look forward to ending the GEN3 era on a high in London.”
