The #93 Meyer Shank Racing Acura topped the timing sheets to kickstart the opening session of IMSA testing here at Daytona in the GTP class, with the #43 Inter Europol Oreca earning the top time among the LMP2s.
Nick Yelloly set the fastest lap time in the #93 Acura ARX-06 with a 1:35.725, the only 1:35 lap time in the first session. Sister car teammate, #60, Tom Blomqvist secured the second best time of the session, 1:36.241. The customer Porsche, JDC-Miller Motorsports, slotted in the third position with newly acquired Nico Pino posting the top time among the team.
In LMP2, Tom Dilmann set the fastest-lap time for Inter Europol, 1:39.224. Pratt Miller & AO Racing trailed behind, sitting 2-3.
Only one car did not take a lap during the first session, the #23 THOR Aston Martin Valkyrie, as electrical issues caused the team to run a partial lap early in the morning.
The final session of Day 1 is underway as GTPs and LMP2s wrap up their prototype-only session at 5pm ET.
