Bathurst 12 Hour: Team WRT fastest in first practice

Team WRT topped the timesheets in the opening practice session at the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour. The #32 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, driven by Charles Weerts, set the fastest lap of 2:03.8685 with around ten minutes remaining in the 40-minute session.

Second place went to the #222 Scott Taylor Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo driven by Cam Waters, who finished just 0.287 seconds behind Weerts. Third fastest overall, and the quickest Pro-Am entry, was the #268 BRM Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II of Alex Peroni.

Matt Campbell was the highest-placed Porsche driver in fourth aboard the #911 Absolute Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, finishing ahead of the #100 Grove Racing Mercedes-AMG driven by Kai Allen in fifth. Sixth place went to Lee Holdsworth in the #9 Hallmarc/MPC Audi, followed by Christopher Haase in the sister #55 Jamec Racing/MPC Audi.

Also finishing inside the top ten were Jules Gounon in the #75 75 Express Mercedes-AMG in eighth, Ricardo Feller in the #61 EBM Porsche, as well as the only Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 in the field, entered by Wall Racing.

Meanwhile, newcomers the #64 HRT Ford Mustang finished 18th, while the #2 JMR Corvette ended the session in 23rd place.

Practice continues with the second session of the weekend for Bronze-rated drivers, at 11:00 a.m. local time.
