Marek Böckmann is going for a three-year winning streak in class this year, having won the SP10/GT4 class of the Nürburgring 24 Hours in 2019 with Black Falcon and again last year in SP-PRO. Having changed teams to SchnitzelAlm Racing for 2021, if the team’s VLN Nürburgring Endurance Series performances in the past months are any indication, that uninterrupted winning streak is a very real possibility for Marek, who shares the #34 SchnitzelAlm Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 with Marcel Marchewicz, Reinhold Renger and Tim Neuser.

Marek Böckmann: “It’s going really well for us at the moment, we’re P1 in our class but it is pretty exciting. I think the first three or four cars in the GT4 class are like only two or three seconds away from each other, so it’s going to quite an interesting race with a head-to-head fight.
“The weather plays a big role right now. You never know when you have to go out of the pit, when you have to try to push for a lot. We had a bit of luck, we had three really good runs, a few good laps without traffic – or rather without much traffic.
“I’m quite happy at the moment, but we have the third qualifying to go and I think it’s going to rain, but I’m not really sure! So we’ll have to wait until the end of the qualifying and then we can say where we are. We have a good pace, the car is brilliant and the team is working very well. Every driver is on point. It’s a fantastic weekend so far and I’m really happy to be part of this team.”
