Audi works driver Robin Frijns has been ruled out of the Nürburgring 24 Hours after contracting the flu. The pilot of the #3 Audi Sport Team Car Collection shared the news on Instagram. He tested negative for COVID-19.

“Not the news I wanted to share,” the Dutchman wrote on the social media network. “Unfortunately I will miss out on one of the biggest race of the year. As I am having the flu and feeling really weak (Corona free) Audi Sport and myself decided to not take part. As this race is one of the toughest you can do, if you not 100-percent fit and focus it will most likely never end well.

“Feeling gutted for the team and my team mates. Wishing good luck to them and everyone else there. Stay safe! I will be watching.”

Car Collection will not replace Frijns and continues the weekend with Mirko Bortlotti, Christopher Haase and Markus Winkelhock.
